Frank Lloyd Wright's legacy is that of a creative, yet difficult genius. Wright left his native Wisconsin for Chicago in 1887. After working as the chief assistant to Louis Sullivan, Wright opened his own architectural firm in 1893. By 1900, he had become the chief practitioner of prairie-school architectural design. Frank Lloyd Wright was a major influence on Chicago architecture. His innovative designs helped make Chicago one of the centers of architectural design in the early twentieth century, and his influence can still be seen today in public and private buildings.
