Prints - Vintage Travel - South Shore Line

"The posters of the South Shore Line were largely about nature. The artists were surely asked to portray the natural beauty of northern Indiana in a way that would make the sites apealing to potential visitors. Even if cubism and the other isms of modern art had gained a stronger foothold in America by the 1920s, an avant-garde style was not what was called for in these works. Rich in mood but conservative in form, the South Shore Line posters were very much products of their time and place" -- from the book Moonlight in Duneland.

Each of these prints comes either framed (in a genuine wood frame, with attached hanger) or unframed with a double matte backing. These prints are a Chicago Historical Society Museum Store exclusive!
